Celebrating The Day With Various Activities:
• Morning CONNECT classes – House Masters visited classes and took some class photos/small video snippets of classes making representations of the number 100 (e.g. 100 fingers, 100 star jumps collectively etc.) with their body. There are so many ways to represent 100.
• Session 3 – Drone photo in the hall to celebrate the milestone together as a whole college. 100 Days of learning, building relationships and creating a positive college culture can be hard to encapsulate but this photo serves to remind us of how much we have achieved together in the first 100 days since the college opened. We know many members of our community were walking along side us and standing in our corner to help us overcome some unexpected barriers and we thank them all for helping us achieve this fantastic milestone.
• Session 4 – YSSC 100th Day of Learning Escape Room Challenge. It was an exciting and highly entertaining session that staff and students will be talking about for years to come! Students worked cooperatively to discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in order to progress and accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time. The goal was to be the first group to get to Admin and let one of the Executive Team know that they have completed their 100th Day of Learning for the year. Here they had a celebration photo taken with the group members they worked with on the challenge. Canteen vouchers were awarded to the first 3 teams from each year level. The activity involved movement, energy, collaboration and critical and creative thinking. Our students had so much fun they didn’t even realise they were demonstrating and applying many of our college values and 21st Century skills within the learning experience!
• To savour this milestone, students will now begin creating an artefact that represents what 100 Days of Learning on their learning experiences, including cultural, academic, sporting and wellbeing to design an individual artefact that symbolises this. The artefacts will be collated and accessible to our students and community, and act as a reminder of what our foundation students achieved and savoured from their first 100 days with us.
