Students Create Display Of NAIDOC Art
During week 5 of this term, we celebrated NAIDOC week at Yarrabilba State School. Our students had the pleasure of attending a talk on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Artefacts in the resource centre with Mrs Bartlett. During these talks the students engaged in great conversations about the way in which these artefacts were used in the past and present.
Our classes also participated and contributed to our annual NAIDOC Showcase. This showcase highlighted the way in which our classes learn about our Indigenous culture throughout the term and displayed their learning for the whole school to see. Our students also participated in a colouring in competition with one student in each grade winning a prize.
As we finish the term we look forward to continuing our Bullang Bujerum groups with our Indigenous students. Our focus this term has been to build our understanding and knowledge on why we dance and how we dance and what it means to each tribe.
