Students Held A Night Of Space And Discovery
On Thursday the 20th of August, 2020, Yarrabilba State Secondary College (YSSC) hosted their first annual ‘Science Night’ during National Science Week. The Event began at 4:00pm, the first scheduled stage of the events was an exhibition of YSSC’s Discovery Centre learning facility.
Four of the classrooms were full of displays including, an illusions lab, a biology centre, technology based coding lessons and a ‘DIY Workshop.’ The YSSC P&C was also there selling sausage sizzles and refreshing soft drinks for only $2. They also had a collection of Space themed posters for only a dollar. All in all it was quite a successful event for the schools P&C.
The second set of events for the night kicked off a little later at 5:30pm with a science-themed movie and the Scenic Rim Astronomy Club coming and setting up two large telescopes. Both of which showed many amazed students Jupiter, Saturn and other ‘Space Objects.’
As many students, family members, friends and community members left the school auditorium, at the end of the film, they were astounded at the many activities the school had to offer and were waiting to see what 2021 YSSC Science Night will bring.
