King’s College Commences Roar Active Program
Students from King’s Christian College Logan Village are excited to learn soccer from Brisbane Roar’s Scott McDonald. The after-school soccer program, called ‘Planet Soccer’, runs for eight weeks and is part of the Roar Active Program.
Scott McDonald, former Socceroo and English Premier League Player, said, “At Planetsoccer SMA we look to promote an identity fostering the values of respect, honesty, hard work, commitment, bravery and teamwork. To be applied both on and off the pitch.
“Our aim at Planetsoccer SMA is to give our players a fun, safe environment to practice their skills and techniques. Also where they can grow as individuals and make friendships along the way, while learning a lot of important life skills not just needed for on the pitch but more importantly off it, for their life journey ahead.”
As the starting point for the Brisbane Roar development pathway, the Roar Active Program is an introductory program to football through fun, social interaction and motor skill development in young kids.
Scott McDonald started his own program based on his passion to help nurture future soccer players from 2 years old to adult. With a team of experienced coaches, all with the appropriate qualifications and current Blue Cards, Planet Soccer delivers fun, safe and enjoyable sessions within schools and clubs throughout South East Queensland.
Peter Fossey, Head of Primary, King’s Christian College Logan Village said, “King’s Christian College is thrilled to welcome Planet Soccer and provide our students with the opportunity to learn soccer from professional footballer Scott McDonald.
“Physical activity is vital for children’s health and development. Playing sport also provides benefits in addition to physical well-being such as making friends, working as a team, building character and self esteem.
“King’s Christian College has a strong sporting reputation across our campuses, regularly topping inter-school sports leagues. Many of our students compete at district, state and national levels. Our young people have so much potential. We see an important part of our role as teachers is to find that God-given potential and nurture it. We may discover that we have a budding soccer star here!”
