Few Finishing Touches & Ready For ‘Bashing’!
Car 1104 is nearly completed after months of hard work, it just has a few safety items to be fitted and some interior cosmetic and comfort work to complete and she will be ready to start Bashing on August 30th.
The Lions Bash Team have done a fantastic job getting the “UGLY DUCKLING” abandoned paddock wreck of a Statesman DeVille to the “BEAUTYFULL SWAN” of a Variety Bash Car 1104 we see today – ready to Rock and Roll!
The Club would really like to thank Lion Bob Downs for his outstanding work on the car, he really has performed a miracle and for letting the club use his workshop (Trade Mech – Unit 1/8-10 Centenary Place Logan Village) to carry out the restoration, we really appreciate all your efforts Bob.
Also, the Club appreciates all the great work carried out by the Bash Team members, Lions Brad, Bill and President Wayne, they have all donated a great amount of time and effort into the project.
With the Bash start date of August 30th getting ever closer the team are getting excited now that all the hard work has been done and the end is in site and whilst they may feel a bit intrepid about the task ahead we are sure they will accomplish their mission and have a lot of fun (and a few cold beverages) along the way and we are sure they will have the Lions motto “We Serve” on their minds whatever happens along the way.
Car 1104 and the Clubs Bash Venture was officially opened at the Market Day/Movie night last Saturday 17th by Councillor Laurie Koranski and Laurie also presented the club with a donation from the LCC for its fundraising efforts , the club thanks Laurie and the LCC for their assistance.
We still welcome any donations or assistance for this fundraising venture and if you can assist in any way we will be pleased to hear from you, please phone Club Secretary Lion- Brad Hall on 0458 719 648 in the first instance.
In the next issue, which will be the last update before the Bash starts, we will have all the details of how you can follow Car 1104 on its journey from Winton to Yeppoon via Birdsville and be kept up to date on all the Bash News.
Please see all the photos of the car from ‘Paddock to Bash Ready’, a story of great wonderment to us non-mechanical humans, thanks to everybody who assisted.
Look out for Car 1104 in the area for the next few weeks and if you have an event where we can attend and display the car and help raise money for the QLD Variety Bash 2021, we would love to hear from you, it is a great cause and well worth supporting however you can, please contact Secretary Lion Brad to discuss the matter.
Until the next update, please keep well and drive safely and keep a look out for Car 1104!
