Unlike Big Dave’s Predictions…
It would be remiss of me not to begin my column with the look back to Game 2 and my State Of Origin predictions and be given a rather large slab of humble pie.
I tipped Reece Walsh to score (he didn’t even take the field), Queensland to win (we got lapped, towelled, some might even say comprehensively beaten). Take your medicine Dave, your selections were indescribably wide
of the mark.
For those of you familiar with my columns, I do love a story of a shot of confidence to a sports person, lifting their onfield endeavours, and whilst it’s fair to say in the years gone by, Ben Hunt had been adequate at the game’s elite showcase level. His performance last Wednesday night, given the chance to start the game and wear the No.9 Jersey were off the planet.
When Anthony Griffin appointed Ben Hunt, Skipper of the Red V this year, more than am eyebrow or two were raised, but Mr Griffin (a real Family Guy) knew exactly what he had in Ben Hunt – a star waiting to be reborn! A big scoop of confidence later for Benny Boy and he’s Game 3 Player Of the Match. And might I add, he won the award in my opinion with daylight second.
I think most of us have heard the song “Give Peace A Chance”, let’s this month do as Anthony Griffin did and give people a chance. For sometimes people don’t lose ability, they simply lose confidence.
Until next month, keep your eyes daily on Manly, I think they’re ‘cherry ripe’ leading into finals,
Big Dave.
