Logan Village RSL Honours Remembrance Day
A reverent silence fell on the Logan Village Green as the community paused to reflect upon those who served and sacrificed in past wars to commemorate Remembrance Day.
John Leggatt from the Logan Village RSL officiated the service with Sub-Branch President Judy Alterator paying homage to those who fought and defended Australia throughout the generations.
Cr Laurie Koranski was on hand to read Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields.
“It is an honour for me to be part of today’s Remembrance Day service and to pay my respects” Cr Koranski said. “The poem references the red poppies that grew over the graves of fallen soldiers in the first world war”.
“The poppy has become one of the most recognised memorial symbols for soldiers who have died in conflict” she said.
Remembrance Day services were conducted across the City including at local schools including the Yarrabilba State Secondary College.
