20,000 ABMT’s Raise More Than $6.5 Million
Champagne was flowing at the White House of Waterford as guests donned their best glad rags and opened their wallets to help raise funds for Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
The sumptuous high tea was served to a sell-out crowd – with guests enjoying entertainment provided by Logan songstress Angie Grace, cent auctions and prizes for the best dressed.
Guest speaker Mireille van Dijk shared her emotional journey from first being diagnosed with breast cancer to recovery, and her new role as an ambassador for the Yarrabilba Relay for Life.
Councillor Laurie Koranski, who helped co-ordinate the event, acted as master of ceremonies on the day.
“Australis’s Biggest Morning Tea allows workplaces, friends, family, and community groups opportunity to catch up for a cuppa and raise vital funds for cancer research” she said.
“With more 20,000 Biggest Morning Teas registered across Australia, this year together we’ve raised more than $6.5 million so far”.
“That’s an incredible achievement and I am excited that we are doing our bit to help the one in two Queenslanders who will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetimes” she said.
Cancer Council’s Susie Longman joined Logan City Councillors Cr Mindy Russell, Cr Miriam Stemp, Cr Karen Murphy, and Cr Jon Raven in support of the event.
The Logan Village Community Centre will be hosting their Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event late July – stay tuned for a follow-up!
