‘What’s On In The Lions Den’
Hello again readers of the Yarrabilba and Logan Village Bulletin , Julys issue was great lots of information and pictures of all the local events , we are certainly getting to be a busy precinct.
Being August we are all used to that Ekka period, but again this year we
have had to miss out due to COVID, no Tassie Hot Chips or Strawberry Ice creams or for the children Show Bags, next year hopefully we will be able to enjoy them again.
The Lions Club has had a few setbacks with the lockdown and new regulations as follows:
• The Variety Bush Bash due to run from August 30th with our Car 1104 in it has been cancelled due to Covid concerns (see details in calling car 1104 update)
• The Variety Bush Bash fundraiser on Sunday 1st August at Wellers Hill Bowls Club was cancelled due to the lockdown, new date to be advised
• Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Bethania on 15th August was cancelled due to Covid restrictions, a big shame as Bunnings is a big fundraiser event for community clubs.
Luckily we did get a couple of Woollies at Logan Village Sausage Sizzles in, thank you Woollies for working with us to make it work.
Some good news the club is ready to start selling raffle tickets for our”
Lions Club Super Christmas Raffle” which will run up to the week before
Christmas. Tickets will be sold at our normal supporters ( e.g.: Bendigo
Bank at Logan Village and Jimboomba ) and at all events , we will be
looking for some businesses in Yarrabilba to help us out , also once
some technical problems are sorted out we will be selling on line as well, Will do a feature in October edition.
The club is in contact with local schools with regards special projects Lions run specifically for schools and also awards for special student achievements in schools, this has been run by the Twin Rivers club
(Beenleigh) for many years and since they merged with our club we
have continued this worthwhile project along with our own, especially
now Yarrabilba has many new schools, more details in the Oct edition.
On the home front, the work on our Den continues it is looking good
and hopefully will be finished in a few weeks. We have had some great
news a grant we applied for has come through and we can start the work
on the Lions Community Hall, installing large fans and also installing
insulation to the roof area and also some other work that needs doing to
make the Hall more user friendly, hopefully the work will start in the next
few weeks, before the heat of Summer hits us.
This issue we have a Lions Profile on Lion Euan it makes interesting
reading and the two PHOTOS make great viewing , just love the pink
wig , us Lions reckon he should wear it to work when surveying , he
would be able to be seen from miles standing out in the paddock with his theodolite.
Some readers in Yarrabilba could be living in a house on Land that Euan
has surveyed, don’t blame him for any problems, he is meticulous to the
eenth degree, it must be somebody else’s fault!!!
That is it for this edition, please keep well and keep doing the right thing
so we are all safe and look out for car 1104 and our Raffles and I will be
back with the October edition soon.
Yours in Lions
