Teaching Emotional And Cognitive Student Engagement At Logan Village State School

Logan Village State School has commenced building a school philosophy around the concept of student engagement.
With a focus on behavioural (how we act as learners), emotional (how we feel as learners) and cognitive engagement (how we think as learners), the school has created a new ‘Engagement and Support’ Centre to support the development of new processes across the school.
The school is re-examining the teaching and learning process with a focus on teaching the ‘whole child’.

“Quality teaching and learning is more than just looking at a student’s results,” suggested School Principal, David Cramb, “It is about connecting each child with their own learning pathway and supporting them to engage with learning and to have fun with it,” he said.
The Engagement and Support team and classroom teachers and teacher aides at Logan Village State School are working together to develop exciting new ideas for learning activities and classroom design.
“Learning must be relevant to students, allow for them to be actively involved and have fun,” said Mr Cramb, “and this is what we are working towards for the students of Logan Village.”
